Perfect Gym Towel Feb 13, 2011
By Twilight Poppy I do not like the towels that are provided at the gym because people use them for all sorts of reasons and I don't want any part of that. Admittedly, I am a germ phobic. Even though said disgusting towels are washed and bleached by industrial sized appliances, there are things that may not get washed off completely. Besides the germs, I do not want my skin to touch the harsh chemicals or endure the scented detergent/bleach smell.
I like washing my own towels in my own non-scented - less harsh - detergents. I like knowing that my towel is MY towel.
I like this towel because it is soft and through many washings, continues to be soft. It has a nice waffle weave which is nice on the skin, instead of the average thread type towel. Yes, it is a bit frayed on an edge or two, but the fray doesn't thread out at all.
I also like the width and length of this towel. I purchased another gym towel that is too long. I am a chick and don't wear my towels around my neck. That's sort of a guy thing to do. The other towel I got was just too long.
I like this size because it is the perfect size to lay across the seat of a gym equipment and not be too long, but perfectly wide. It also perfectly lays over the top of my yoga mat, perfectly sized.
I'm going to buy more so I can always ensure I have a clean one ready to go in the gym bag.

Shoddy Construction Oct 14, 2010
By J. Kent I bought the 68" towel for yoga. I was surprised to find the corners frayed when I bought this towel new. While this doesn't really affect it's functionality, you would expect better construction quality than this from any $5 towel. The waffle-weave doesn't make the towel grip any better than other microfiber towels. I have a Gaiam towel (Gaiam Thirsty Yoga Towel (Smokey Purple)), which I bought from amazon for less money, that looks better, and performs almost exactly the same. As a side note, this towel only comes in white, which can be a poor choice for cloth you intend to sweat and roll around on.
Bottom line, for the same amount of money, there are better towels out there.
